This programme will help build your knowledge and skills when creating an organisational culture that delivers on the positive benefits of diversity and inclusion.
To be eligible to receive the accreditation award from TU Dublin, 100% course attendance is required.
Subject Assessment:
- Participants complete their project plan presentation and submit for assessment
- Learning journal highlighting the specific actions they will take to apply the learning from this subject
At the end of the programme participants will:
- Understand key concepts in diversity, equality and inclusion and why they matter in the workplace
- Understand relevant diversity and equality legislation to assess policies and practices including those that address bullying, harassment and victimisation
- Examine the many facets that make up our identity in the workplace and how they intersect
- Understand unconscious bias, and how it impacts everyday interactions, recruitment, performance management, succession planning, mentorship and sponsorship
- Use an evidence-based approach to Diversity and Inclusion practice to evaluate where your organisation is in terms of available data and business context and what priorities to focus on
- Critically evaluate different initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, such as recruitment of diverse employees, demonstration of leadership commitment, inclusive leadership, training on unconscious bias, flexible working and employee resource groups
- Evaluate the current culture of your team, department or organisation using models of organisational culture and understand the different elements of an inclusive culture
- Devise an action plan for addressing your diversity and inclusion challenges in the workplace
This programme is for:
Managers, HR managers and D&I professionals tasked with, or committed to driving diversity and inclusion in their organisations.
Approach
The programme is designed with the application of learning to the forefront, so a number of activities and role plays are core elements of the student experience. Participants also record their learning and how they will apply it back in their workplace, so they keep a learning journal throughout. All stages of the programme are designed to identify, highlight and foster high levels of interaction as part of the learning, with a supporting academic foundation.
