Summary
Advance your career path in human resource management. This programme will give you a comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of the whole area of HRM, ensuring both competence and confidence.
At the end of the programme participants will:
- Understand the key concepts/elements of HRM and how they apply in practice
- Demonstrate an understanding of strategic management, employee engagement, talent management, competency modelling, change management, succession planning, performance management and how to implement each of them in the workplace
- Have a strong knowledge of employment law and how to deal with issues that may arise in this area
- Be able to apply the skills central to HRM at work and to discuss these with confidence, using real examples to show their application
- Understand how leadership behaviours affect how others perform at work
- Develop new strategies to improve levels of employee motivation
- Be able to take control of their own time, motivation and planning in the area of HRM at work
This programme is for:
Those who are looking for an in depth knowledge and understanding of the whole area of HRM in practice. It is also aimed at those thinking about a career in HR or people management.
Approach
This accredited programme with TU Dublin is delivered over a series of 12 full day sessions, spread over 6-9 months to fit in with a fulltime work schedule.
There are a number of activities and case studies used throughout the programme which ensures that all of the learning is applied in a real way. The programme leader encourages group discussion and involvement throughout each session, ensuring opportunities for questions and real issues are discussed at all times. Best practice examples in all areas of HRM will be highlighted and discussed throughout the programme, giving participants plenty of opportunities to build on the elements of these that could be applied in their own organisations.
Assessment & Accreditation
To achieve cpd Level 6 NFQ accreditation by TU Dublin, this course is assessed by exam and assignment submissions. Individual assessments are an integral part of the programme and count towards end of year results as follows:
- Exam: 60%
- Project 3000-5000 words: 30%
- Learning Journal and class participation: 10%
70% attendance is required.

Programme Facilitator
Claire Jones
Claire Jones is a Senior Executive with Ibec Academy, bringing over 25 years of experience to her role. She began her career in Ibec’s Legal Services department, where she spent 12 years specialising in employment law.
During this time, Claire provided expert advice and support to member organisations, developed employer guidelines on information and training, and represented members before employment rights bodies.
Claire has also represented Ibec on a range of national and international committees—including at the UN, EU level, and across Government and State Agencies—focused on employment law and human resources.
In her current role with Ibec Academy, Claire serves as Programme Director for several of Ibec’s accredited programmes, with a particular focus on employment law and human resource management. She also designs and delivers training for member organisations in areas such as employment law, industrial relations, HR, and management development.
Claire’s career spans both public and private sectors. She holds qualifications in law, business, employment law, adult education, and mediation, and has earned a Master’s degree (MSc) in Human Resource Management.
