Summary
While Mentors have experience in their own areas of expertise, it is also important that they develop the skills to be an effective Mentor. This programme develops the skills to give advice in an appropriate and effective manner.
At the end of the programme participants will:
- Develop the key to skills to mentor colleagues effectively
- Understand the different approaches to mentoring others and know when to use them
- Become familiar with some tools that can be used during the mentoring process and start to develop their own toolkit.
- Know the value of giving effective feedback and when and how to give this feedback
- Gain practical experience of mentoring others by participating in role plays
- Develop their own personal action plan to support their ongoing development

Participants who would like to develop the key skills to mentor colleagues effectively and understand the different approaches to mentoring others and know when to use them.
Approach
There are a number of activities and case studies used throughout the programme which ensures that all of the learning is applied in a real way. The programme leader encourages group discussion and involvement throughout each session, ensuring opportunities for questions and real issues are discussed at all times.

Paddy Ryan
Paddy is an experienced qualified executive and business coach with Ibec. He has spent most of his career as a senior HR director in Irish, American and Global businesses both in Ireland and Europe. Over the past 25 five years, he has worked in a number of industries at director and executive level.
He brings experience, solid backbone in business and demonstrated qualifications, additionally he has the coaching skills to make an impact. Central to his belief in people and management is that change is essential for personal and business growth.
