Occupational Safety and Health Essentials for the HR Professional

Summary

This one-day course introduces HR professionals to the relevant aspects of OSH related to their role. This will include a basic knowledge of the legislation, OSH policies that need to be in place, how to effectively communicate the OSH message within the organisation and the essential OSH knowledge that HR Professionals need to be aware of.

At the end of the programme participants will:

Know and understand the key terminology relation to OSH in the workplace.

  • Establish what OSH legislation applies to their organisation and how the requirements can be implemented and managed to achieve compliance for the workplace including hybrid and remote working arrangements.
  • Recognise the role of policies and record keeping as a tool in OSH management.
  • Understand the importance of effective communication in OSH.
  • Recognise mental health hazards in the workplace and gain an understanding on best practice in relation to protecting mental health in the workplace and promoting employee wellness.
  • Understand the disciplinary issues that are related to OSH.
  • Effectively manage the Occupational Health service.
  • Understand the basic Claims Process
 

This programme is for:

Human Resource Professionals who find themselves dealing with the OSH area, both in terms of policies, practice, and implementation.
